The Chaos in Somalia

Somalia is in the news mainly for the pirates that operate from that country. They do so because the country is in a state of chaos. On the one side is the moderate President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed. ranged against him are the formidable radical Islamist groups such as al-Shabaab, Hezb al-Islamiya.

The war zone is Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. The people suffer as the body counts rise.

Militants roam free

It is the innocent like the girl who are caught in the crossfire and die

A  government soldier lies injured

Children seem inured to the sight of dead bodies

Some of the rebel fighters are barely into their teens

It is the international food that feeds the people of Somalia.
