"It was a life and death fear — I thought I'd lost my child, who I love more than anyone or anything else — but then the next moment, all I could think was how to find him and see how he was," Ms Verma told Woman's Day.
The incident occurred just after 4pm on Thursday, October 15, 2009, when a train was pulling into Ashburton station in Melbourne's east.
The station's CCTV footage, which has since become a viral video online, shows young Saurish's pram rolling off the platform while Ms Verma briefly adjusts her pants.
Ms Verma said she took her hands off the pram for a fraction of a second and it took off.
She frantically tried to grab at it but it was too late, and the pram fell onto the track.
